What is reflexology and how does it work?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which means that it works alongside and is not intended to replace
conventional medicine. It is a therapy that is usually carried out on the feet though hands and ears can be effecitvely worked
too.
It is based on the discovery by the 5000 years ago by the Egyptians and the later re-discovery by Dr
William Fitzgerald in 1913 that the feet mirror the body and it is possible to use the feet as a map of the entire body. By
using special pressure techniques and manipulations imbalances in tissues, organs and systems can be stimulated to encourage
the body to restore balance and well being. Reflexology usually induces a deep state of relaxation that creates the ideal
conditions for the body, mind and soul to heal.
